The EVolution #20: More to be done

Don't overlook the need to educate the public and address charging reliability

It’s slightly less cliche than starting a podcast, and I can’t come up with a viral TikTok dance to explain “kilowatt hours,” so here’s… something. With the recent launch of Substack’s video format, I gave myself the challenge of creating an “episode” of The EVolution. So I filmed using my phone and laptop, edited with iMovie for iPhone, and included a stylized intro and a fake sponsored segment!

On the serious side of this 5-min. piece, I talk about addressing obstacles to mass EV adoption in the U.S. I’m particularly irked by how lacking are the efforts to bring Americans up to speed on the new technology, terminology, and behavioral habits that come with a switch to electric.

More attention has been paid, at least, to the need for additional public charging stations. Still, I believe the industry must also significantly raise expectations on the reliability and convenience of the new fueling experience.
